Summer Activities ![]() Play tennis at our on-site regulation size tennis court equipped with night lighting. Other outdoor activities at the Bella Vista include, Volleyball, Basketball, Croquet, and Bocce Ball. NEARBY STEAMBOAT SPRINGS: The owners of the Bella Vista have been dealing with local providers of the outdoor activities listed below for more than a decade. From their personal experience and the feedback from hundreds of our guests who have utilized these services, we can recommend the "best in class" for any activity. Many of these providers offer pick-up and drop-off at the Bella Vista. Reservations for any of these activities can be made, in advance, through our resident manager. ALPINE SLIDE: Ride a 4 wheeled cart down a 2,400 foot slide. Located on Howelsen Hill in downtown Steamboat, the Alpine Slide is open from Memorial Day through September 24th. BIKING: Both paved and off road trails are just outside of the Bella Vista front gate. You can also take a short ride into Steamboat, catch a Gondola lift and experience a 10,000 foot downhill bike ride. ![]() Mountain biking at Steamboat on Mt. Werner and in the Medicine Bow/ Routt National Forest offers many thrills and challenges. Bikes are available for rent or of course you can bring your own bike. You can ride at your own pace on a network of well marked mountain trails. Individual trails on the mountain vary in length with the longest being up to 6 miles. Trails run as far as the top of Storm Peak. A few detours are possible. Helmets are required on the mountain. ![]() CLIMBING: Rock climbing is available for adults and children at all levels from beginner to advanced. The climbs vary from 25 feet to 450 feet. FLY FISHING: There is public fly fishing right on the Yampa River in downtown steamboat. The Yampa is public from the ski area on down through the old town of Steamboat. There are also outfitters and tour guides who will take you to private waters where you can fish for Rainbows, Cutbows, Cutthroat, and Whitefish. GOLF: Haymaker Golf Course is located on Highway 40, just 3 miles from the Bella Vista. Haymaker is an 18 hole, public access course, with rolling fairways, deep bunkers, and meandering streams bordered by mountains. It features a full practice facility, pro shop, and a bar and grill. HIKING: There are hiking trails just outside the front gate of the Bella Vista. Other trails near the Bella Vista are Spring Creek Trail, Emerald Mountain, Ferndale, Fish Creek Trail, and Strawberry Park Hot Springs. Trail conditions are best in Spring, Summer, and Fall. ![]() HOT AIR BALLOONING: Is available for individuals and groups year round, weather permitting, in Steamboat Springs. HUNTING: Rifle and Archery hunting on both public and private land is available near Steamboat. Guided hunts for all types of indigenous game are also accessible.
